Transportation Control Systems, Inc. Acquires Quality Traffic Systems
Tampa, Florida based Transportation Control Systems expands its market throughout the Southeast with the acquisition of a traffic signal distributor headquartered in Nashville, TN.
Tampa, Florida (April 25, 2013) – Transportation Control Systems (TCS), a recognized leader in the manufacturing and distribution of high quality, technologically advanced traffic control products, is pleased to announce its acquisition of Quality Traffic Systems (QTS), headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. QTS distributes traffic signal and intelligent transportation systems equipment in seven states in the southeast – Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and North and South Carolina.
Quality Traffic Systems was originally a family owned business that endured for three generations before being sold three years ago to entrepreneur, Ben Sensing. Also family owned, Transportation Control Systems is on its second generation of owners. “All of us at TCS are extremely excited about this new venture,” said Transportation Control Systems President, Steven Gillis. “The passion and hard work that has gone into growing QTS, parallels that of our business. We look forward to working with Ben in the next month or so during the transition.” The company is looking into relocating the Nashville headquarters to a new facility nearby within six months.
This acquisition will represent a large increase in territory for TCS, which prides itself on its customer service and product availability. They stock a great deal of inventory, thereby shortening lead times for both contractors and government customers. Gillis explained, “There’s no such thing as a standard cabinet in this business, but we’ve built our reputation on providing the highest quality custom products to each end user in a timely manner. Our goal is to take this model of doing business in Florida and extend it to the Southeast through Quality Traffic Systems.”
Gillis concluded, “We have three technical employees in Florida with over 100 years of combined knowledge, who will help support the two person technical team of QTS. We’re proud of what we have accomplished in Florida, and with the acquisition of Quality Traffic Systems, we’re looking forward to doing even more.”
